The Powells trip to UK & Europe - 2012

Our 2012 trip to London and Europe.....

We caught the train to the airport from Berowra, after our friend Bec dropped us at the Station (thanks Bec!).  It was a very easy and efficient way to get to the airport.

We had a really great time in London and Paris.....

Have a look at our blog and the pictures of our explorations and adventures.  Looking back, it seems like we packed a fair amount into the 3 weeks!

Cheers!

Day 1 - 8th December

At Jeremy and Ians

We have arrived.........!  A relatively short minibus ride from Heathrow to Jems place and we can relax with a cup of Tea.

A shower, and a bit of a relax, then we are off to the shops for supplies. In the afternoon/evening we spent sometime having Christmas drinks and nibbles with some of Jems friends - Shannon and Cam at Chiswick.  A few of us had a go at putting Chrismas icing decorations on some cookies!  Let the Christmas celebrations begin!

After falling asleep on the tube trip home, we fell into bed early to try and sleep off the jet lag.

Day 2 - 9th December

The Powells at Trafalgar Square

Work up this morning fairly well rested, and seemingly over the jet lag.... time would tell!  The kids smoked up the kitchen cooking up bacon, eggs, french toast and other delicacies for breakfast then we were off for a bit of shopping and siteseeing.

We rode the great London institution that is "the tube", to Tottenam Court station to visit the Oxford/Regent Street shopping area where we encountered loads of people doing their Christmas shopping.  We managed to buy a few bargins - the kids wanted a few things, and a chance to spend their "British money".  Everyone scored something - even Kellie and Tim!

Next stop was a coffee shop where we planned our first assult on the Monopoly Challenge" - see the photos on the Monopoly tab.  We managed to walk from Oxford Street all the way to Pall Mall, via Trafalgar Square.  Along the way we managed to tick off.... Pall Mall, Whitehall, Northumberland Ave, Mareborough St, The Strand, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square (I have to check the spelling of that EVERY time!), Coventry St, Piccadilly, Regent St and Oxford St. Not  bad for a first day!

We then made our way to Southbank for some dinner and a well earned sit down.  After recovering our energy, we wandered the Christmas markets and sampled some mulled wine (VERY tasty!).

Then it was back on a train at Embankment back home to Jeremys place to pack for our next adventure to Paris.
